Nia Long will star in the Tyler Perry’s upcoming movie Single Moms Club (hit theaters March 14) and WeTV‘s first scripted series, the legal drama The Divide this fall. The veteran actress is covering the April 2014 issue of ESSENCE Magazine. On the cover, Long looks cute in a Michael Costello jumpsuit and Coronet earrings.

Janelle Monae lands her first ESSENCE cover for the May 2013 issue. After winning her 1st Grammy for song of the year,  for "We Are Young"  a collab with the band Fun, indie-fave Janelle Monae may not be a underground artist for much longer, she is set to perform at the annual Essence Music Festival in July and recently signed a contract as a covergirl model as seen on billboards and in print ads. The magazine issue hits newsstands April 5th.

The star-studded cast of Tyler Perry’s film-adapted play For Colored Girls are featured in a double cover of Essence’s December issue. Each of the women are dressed in the color based on the original poem/play. The movie hits theaters nationwide on November 5, staring some of the most talented African American actresses/actors of our time.
