Aaliyah Dana Haughton (January 16, 1979 – August 25, 2001) was one of the greatest entertainers, performers, and actresses of our time. Signed to Jive records at age 12, It's sad to say that she died at such a young age, (when her career was just taking off) but it is safe to say that she paved the way for so many artist in today's world. Her music is timeless and many artist would not be here if it wasn't for her contributions to music. She is listed by Billboard as the tenth most successful female R&B artist of the past 25 years, and 27th most successful R&B artist overall. Aaliyah has also been credited for helping redefine R&B and hip hop in the 1990s, and has sold more than 25 million albums world wide.
